I came across the image featured in the youtube video below during one of my thrice-weekly desktop wallpaper harvests.  When I see things that remind me of my character Spooky in some way on deviantArt, I add it to my Favorites.  At this point, I have a whole Favorites folder dedicated to these images: Have a look!  cyberpumpkin.deviantart.com/fa…

So why do I bother? Doesn't it just make Spooky seem less creative or, worse, like an idea swiped from another artists? It might, I guess. The real point is to demonstrate how Spooky's concept draws on a common archetype that manifests over and over in artists' ideas. While it's true that most of these artists' influences are not wholly independent of each other, the concept can't exactly be traced back to designs from Kindom Hearts (the buggy Heartless creatures) or a Tim Burton movie or an early RPG on the original Game Boy.

I want to show how Spooky really is just a run-of-the-mill Level 1 dungeon creature you'd see alongside slimes, giant rats and skeletons.

Anyway, the not-Spooky pic in the youtube video below is the album cover for Faded Paper Figures from a group called The Matter.  Give their stuff a listen, you might like it!  I do!
