Not Dead (as of 20171006)
I just noticed that my featured artwork is almost two years old already. I've been going through a major dry spell. For ten years, I drew almost exclusively at work, since I did most of my work talking on a headset.
Now I do exactly the same type of work, but this office is strictly paperless, so I can't really do anything creative beyond photographing some toys and Lego things using a couple of unexpectedly well-lit areas in the building.Until recently, I never took the time to draw outside of work, because playstation. So for the last month or so I've been forcing myself to do scribbles every couple of days, mostly on post-it notes beca
Also not Spooky
I came across the image featured in the youtube video below during one of my thrice-weekly desktop wallpaper harvests. When I see things that remind me of my character Spooky in some way on deviantArt, I add it to my Favorites. At this point, I have a whole Favorites folder dedicated to these images: Have a look! http://cyberpumpkin.deviantart.com/favourites/41225374/Things-Spooky-totally-not-based-on
So why do I bother? Doesn't it just make Spooky seem less creative or, worse, like an idea swiped from another artists? It might, I guess. The real point is to demonstrate how Spooky's concept draws on a common archetype that manifests over
New logo? I don't even.
Could someone explain how the new logo works? I can find the A part of what must be DA or dA. I can't seem to find the d or D. Maybe that's the point; that there IS no d or D, and that's what makes it deviant. The upper left corner pops out as an F to me. Or if I just focus on the green part, it looks disturbingly like a crossed-out equals sign. ≠ <-- This thing (if your browser will display it).
If I didn't know better, I'd wonder if there is some trolling taking place. Having a symbol for inequality representing an art hosting site that takes almost all comers certainly seems like an Onion headline. Unfortunately, I've be
Inspiration in Similarities!
Po ~ tion (Demizuposuka)!
This guy --> http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=33333 Apparently he's not on deviantART.
Similarities between his little hero character (this http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=35115404) and Ohsone (Spooky's hero identity) are interesting. I'm sure neither inspired the other: The design is slick and shows similar influences like Mega Man/Rockman and Kamen Riders. It's neat to see that I share influences and design elements with an artist I admire. It makes me feel that much more talented.
